Dear Reader:
I am working hard on an Encodings-related dialogue book. It’s a more than a little ambitious project, largely because I am engaging in a complex dialogue about the human experience with something we might call ‘Creation.’ Wherever this conversation emanates from (my creative aspect, a connection to God that we all share?), I find it fascinating and helpful.
At this stage in the dialogues, I’m focused on something that has always fascinated me—synchronicity. You know, that license plate with the person’s name on it that you keep seeing soon after your break-up. The potential employer that you bump into at the grocery store days after your job interview. The large wood branch that falls into the river in front of you, right after you get taken by the rapids while swimming. The events that you can’t help but believe are somehow destined.
In my initial spiritual phase, I imagined that all manner of synchronicity was benevolently intended. I was inclined to believe that God or the Universe or whatever you call it, was setting things up for my benefit. And then life happened, and I learned otherwise. One thing is now clear—it isn’t difficult to recognize something that feels synchronistic. What is difficult is knowing if it is designed to help you, or hinder you. In 2015, I included the following quote in my book ‘Spiritual Graffiti’. I had clearly learned the lesson:
“Just because we feel a kind of soul feeling with someone doesn’t mean we should explore it. It doesn’t mean we should jump on in, even if we are hungry for that kind of connection. I used to explore and attach whenever I felt a soulular resonance with someone, but experience taught me to be more careful. Because resonance alone does not tell you if the path is going to be an additive one, any more than synchronicity tells you which way to walk. Just because there is a strong energetic pull to someone doesn’t mean its a good thing. Just because the universe seems to be bringing you together, doesn't mean they are doing you a favor. Sometimes it is an invitation to expansion, and sometimes it is nothing but trouble. We have to trust our intuition, and we have to practice the art of selective attachment, especially when the synchronicity bell chimes the loudest.”
So, that’s somewhat clear. Yet I am still left with questions: (1) Who orchestrates the synchronicities that lead to positive outcomes when they prompt us to action? Us? God? Our inner daimon? Our guiding angels? A complicated system that is designed to ELEVATE our consciousness? (2) Who orchestrates the synchronicities that lead to negative outcomes when they prompt us to action? Us? God? Our inner daimon? Guiding angels? A complicated system that is designed to UNDERMINE our consciousness? (3) Is it possible that there is no distinction to be made between elevating and undermining synchronicities? In other words, is the sychronicity system organized in a way that leads to essential spiritual growth, whatever the outcome? Or does it depend entirely on how we approach the situation after we step towards it?
I have lots of questions. I’ll let you know what Creation says soon 😊.
Find Sacred Purpose with us in September!
If you are interested in exploring the question of your sacred purpose—something I am now referring to as ‘Encodings’—please join us beginning September 18th! A 6-week on-line course that supports your efforts to identify the paths you are here to walk, the lessons you are here to learn, and the callings you are here to embrace. It also includes a one-hour session with me—an opportunity to be supported on your quest to clarify and consolidate your direction.
When you walk through the gateway of your sacred purpose, you walk into yourself. Like the great wall of karma, it protects you from unconscious forces and holds your process safe. Blessingly buffered from the madness of the world, your purpose filters out those relationships and energies that undermine your expansion. Infused with vitality and a clarified focus, new pathways of possibility appear where before there were obstacles. Life still has its challenges, but you interface with them differently, coated in an authenticity of purpose that sees through the veils to what really matters. The rivers of essence rise up to meet you, carrying you from one wave of expansion to another…
