“It’s often very difficult to distinguish a soul-mate from a wound-mate because powerful connections excavate the unresolved emotional material that each of us holds. The stronger the connection, the stronger the light shining on those dark places. Some woundmates truly do contain the seeds of our soulular expansion. But not all wound-mates are soul-mates. Sometimes they are toxic connections masquerading as something more heightened. Sometimes they are destructive battle-grounds with very little possibility for expansion. Sometimes they are just trouble with a capital T. It’s an important distinction.”
Intertwined with our sacred purpose are certain key figures, those I refer to as the soulpod. The soulpod are individuals of resonance or soulnificance (in kitschy terms), that inspire and reflect your growth. They begin with your family of origin and then move beyond them. Those individuals you encounter in life that have a profound impact on your growth and expansion, they are not always apparent from the moment you meet them. They are the juiciest connections, the most vital connections, the people we really like or don’t much like, those we can sense are strongly connected to our deepening, our growing, our purpose. There is a kind of deep familiarity, or stickiness, like you have walked into a person that is stuck to your encoded path for this lifetime. You will seldom have a conscious idea of what they are here to bring your way- that will usually have to be determined in the living- but they will always bear some fruit... not always in obviously positive ways, but in the ways that grow us.
Although I had spent many years doing much of my soul’s work all alone in nature, I ultimately came to realize that I could never really avoid the relational nature of expansion…
