At the heart of sacred purpose, is the work that we do to heal the emotional body. Many people ask me how much therapy they will need before they can get to their purpose. I tell them all the same thing: “The work you do to heal and grow emotionally and developmentally IS sacred purpose. And, at this stage of human development, this is the stage that is essential. Because we cannot even begin to access and actualize our callings, until we do more healing.” Simply put, at the heart of many of our wounds, issues, and patterns, is an uncomfortable yet glorious opportunity to transform. Once that material makes it all the way through the healing tunnel, the soul evolves to the next stage. The soul, and the emotional and physical bodies align as they were intended—as intertwined threads of the same sacred weave. Emotional maturation and spiritual maturation are then revealed as synonymous.
This is not to say that every trauma carries a golden thread of healing, but it is to say that much of the work that we do within the unresolved emotional body is grist for the transformation mill. This is something that is often ignored in a culture that celebrates external achievement. And, as a result, some of the greatest achievers on the planet—the inner workers, like you— don’t recognize the brilliance of their accomplishment. The essence of this is captured in this quote:
